Yeenicorn is Not Afraid of Color

As I near the end of the ink stage of Poems of the Night Watch, I’ve begun to realize that I’m fairly intimidated by working in color. I’ve taken multiple color theory courses. I was a picture framer for three years, which involved choosing among subtly different hues. And yet, I often get overwhelmed when choosing colors from scratch to work in harmony in a composition. Paralysis of choice is a real problem when digital painting provides such a wide gamut!

So I’ve decided to confront that fear, push my own boundaries, and experiment until I can feel more confident about my color work. I’ve wanted to put this goofy little character on a t-shirt for about a month and finally just sat down and worked out a simple coloring method that made me happy…at least for now.
